In a digital age, is the humble business card still relevant?

We might live and work in a digital age, but the humble business card remains one of the cheapest and most effective marketing tools around.

And while a card once included a person’s name, title, phone number and email address with a logo, these days a card could list all or perhaps none of this information; and be just as effective.

Anthony Bologna is design director of Melbourne’s Trout Creative Thinking. He says a business card is more important than ever to make a memorable connection in a digital age.

“Business cards are tangible and tactile; the antithesis of the all-encompassing and yet untouchable online space. Good business cards complement and balance a business’ online presence rather than competing with it by providing a real and lasting impression of your business identity – something people can touch, feel and keep,” Bologna says.
